Morley's Final Catalogue: Broadly distributed but by no means frequent. Bentley Woods, on sugar on 1 October 1898; Ipswich occasionally; Monks Soham, on Lime trunk 25 May 1909; Beccles; &c.

Recent Suffolk Status: Mainly found in woodlands across the county. Becoming rarer in recent years.

Life history: Single-brooded.

Identification: Water carpet is larger and has a less irregular cross band. Small phoenix has a smoother edged cross band.

Habitat: Woodlands.

Recorded in 40 (69%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1898.
Last Recorded in 2023.
